What's Happening in the world of Star Fox?

Star Fox News

  • May 5, 2012 - Rumor: This bit of information has been circulating the internet for about a year now, but apparently a new source has re-ignited this old rumor. Gaming blog Techtroid had claimed they were tipped off that Nintendo's American first-party developer - Retro Studios - are prepped to reveal an upcoming Star Fox game for the Wii U at this year's E3. Retro Studios are the highly acclaimed developers behind the Metroid Prime trilogy and the game Donkey Kong Country Returns. It has long been confirmed that they had been working on a "secret game" for the Wii U, but no one really considered the likelihood of it being a brand new Star Fox title. Like all rumors, and as much as we love to hope, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. Interestingly, a few days before Nintendo's initial presentation at E3 2010, there were rumors that Retro Studios were working on a new Donkey Kong title. Initially, such a rumor was not received with enthusiasm as people believed it was too far-fetched considering numerous factors, but during E3 Nintendo does indeed unveil Donkey Kong Country Returns, courtesy of Retro Studios. Therefore, a rumor it may still be, we do not recommend dissing the idea of a Star Fox Wii U title from Retro Studios just yet. Source
Nintendo had recently confirmed that their initial presentation during E3 2012 will debut on June 5, starting at 9am Pacific Daylight Time (local time). Nintendo confirms they will unveil first party titles such as Pikmin 3 and a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U. Nintendo also confirms they may not reveal the release date and price for the Wii U at E3, but rather at a later date.
  • November 18, 2011 - Have you been using Google lately? Of course, it is very, very unlikely anyone browsing on the internet would not ever use the ever-popular Google search engine. Anyway, why am I asking you if you had been using Google? Well, recently Google implemented something that could be considered a tribute to the Star Fox series. A sort of Easter egg, if you will. I shall not say any more about it, but you can easily find out yourself. I highly suggest you use the Google Chrome browser for this process though, as it may not work on just any platform. Log on Google's main page, and type in Peppy Hare's famous words, "Do a barrel roll." You will then see what happens exactly.

NIWA News

  • March 30th, 2012 - NIWA added a new member today: Dragon Quest Wiki, a wiki about the Dragon Quest series. Although Dragon Quest is considered a third-party franchise owned by Square-Enix, its latest games from 2007 onwards are Nintendo-exclusive entries, some of which were published by Nintendo themselves outside Japan, which is why the related wiki was qualified to be a NIWA member. Dragon Quest Wiki is also one of the founding wikis in the SEIWA network.
  • March 23rd, 2012 - Coinciding with the worldwide release of Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS, NIWA added a new member today: Icaruspedia, a wiki about the Kid Icarus series.
  • March 21st, 2012 - Lylat Wiki has been notified that fellow NIWA member StrategyWiki has been accepted into our affiliated Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance. If you have a minute to congratulate them, please do so here.
  • March 17th, 2012 - It has been almost a year since NIWA has had any more members, but now we are proud to finally announce that NIWA had added a new member: F-Zero Wiki, a wiki about the F-Zero series.
